At our shop we share a couple HART communicators. The other day I grabbed one to use to replace a transmitter. Guess what? The connection leads were missing! Arrrggg! Was able to set up the transmitter using the buttons on the transmitter, though.

So am looking to get my laptop set up to use as a HART communicator. I don't know what applications are best. PACT-ware was suggested, but it was also mentioned it can be a pita to find the needed DTM file. Looking for suggestions and personal experience here.

What instruments do you deal with mostly? If E&H, AMS Device Manager has been pretty solid laptop-wise... I'm getting familiar with it these days. Prolink3 for Rosemount/Micro Motion.

That's all I got.

Honeywell... ha, we still have some transmitters from the 70's or 80's out here...
You might recognize this guy, a true oldie but goody!
