Washington has passed an emergency rule to allow more journeylevel electricians from out of state to get certified in our state.
They can get a temp certification for 90 days, that gives them time to take the electrical exam.
Part of the requirement allows Canadian Red Seal Construction electricians to be able to take our Journeylevel exam if they have had the read seal endorsement for at least one year.

What I find most interesting is that Canadian red seal program seeks to harmonize the skills required for construction workers across Canada.

I assume this is due to a shortage of electricians? Is this mainly in the Seattle area?

A brief explanation of the red seal program

Its intended to allow licenced electricians to work in all provinces (states). Like the US, our code is national, with each province making their own changes. Our journeyman test is based on the nation code without any provincial changes, which means the base knowledge os each journeyman should meet the same bare minimum.

It used to be that if you passed you test with a higher than 60% you got your provincial license, and above 70% you got you inter-provincial (red seal) license.
They have since changed the rules where everyone has to get above 70%

Yes. I have had two of my coworkers approached about working in Seattle.
