reduce raceway size through fitting.

I was just reading an article on reducing raceway sive through a fitting and not through a box or conduit body. I cant find the code for it. I know it reads something like you cannot reduce raceway size during run. For example I see a lot of 1/2 emt reduced to 3/8 FMC, its done through a emt to nm cable fitting. Could some please ponit me in the right direction. I've gone all over article 300.

I don't think there is a code rule that says you can't change the raceway size in min-run. I think that 300.15 would be the correct section, but it does not require a box or fitting for a raceway size change.

Somewhere, buried in one of the catalogs, there is such a fiting. For instance to reduce 3/4" EMT to 1/2". But why would you want to do this?

Changing from one type of raceway to another is easy. EMT to Flex fitting are standard.

You can achieve a lot of things with a rigid coupling and the appropriate connectors. And then toss in some reducing, threaded bushings.

But you may have problems fishing the run. Maybe go from smaller to larger?

I'm with Don on this on. To add, I guess it would be a violation--and listed as such-- if you didn't meet conduit fill once reduced.
