That is my thinking too, but I suppose it it plausible that that could be an issue, particularly with aluminum conductors. But it would only end up being a voltage drop issue anyway, not an ampacity issue.IMHO it is very very unlikely that there isn't pretty good conductivity between the various individual strands of a stranded conductor.
