I have an owner who is requesting to install a refrigeration evaporator fan coil unit in a room where the electrical main service equipment is located. I believe the owner is a total idiot for coming up with this idea, but I need some code section telling him he can't do this because I believe this is a total safety issue. He idea is that it can be used for extra space refrigerator his product. All electrical clearances are met. Any ideas? Thanks

Yea I just did the same thing in a renovation to a fire station. Actually I has a refrigerator, I also had a refrigeration condensing unit.

Did you mean to say condensing unit? The evaporator is the part that shoots out cold air...So effectively he would be using it to cool the electrical room.

A lot of people confuse the ELECTRICAL ROOM with WORKING SPACE requirements of 110.26

As Bob mentioned, equipment installed in an "Electrical Room" is not an issue of the NEC, although there are jurisdictions which do not permit it, based on local BUILDING CODEs. NYC is one jurisdiction that comes to mind
