I am doing a remodel and they are building a third car garage over the electric service. The meter base needs to be moved to the new outside wall and install a new disconnct to feed the old panel. I am running a 4-wire SER cable from the disconnect to the panel. Question: Do I intercept the ground wire for the water bond in the panel and run it back to the disconnect. The panel is a main breaker so all the grounds and neutrals are sharing the same ground bar.

Re: Relocate meter base

Yes, the water pipe bonding must be connected at the service equipment. All neutrals and grounds will have to be separated at the old panel as well.

Re: Relocate meter base

If by saying intercept, that you mean splicing, than you may have a problem. The GEC must be continuous. It can only be spliced according to the provisions of 250.64(C).
