Remote pool and spa equipment?

Ok, I am sure that the pool light and the spa light on a motel indoor pool room setup have to be GFCI protected. My question is this. Do all the other pool pump, fountain pump, spa jet pumps and spa pump require require a GCFI breaker, or some type of GFCI protection? They are in a remote room of course about 20 ft from the pool. All the required bonding has already been done on the equipment.
I feel pretty certain that we have to protect all the equipment in the entire pool room area with GFCI protection, although the plans do not show it.

If they are hard wired, GFCI protection is not required for pumps. You are permitted to do so, and may want to consider using one large double pole GFCI breaker to feed a pump subpanel. This way, only one GFCI is needed to protect people from all your pumps. About the only shock risk from a pump is to the maintenance personnel who clean out the baskets in the pumps if the pumps are away from the pool. This causes water to be spilled on the floor and a failing pump motor could shock you if you touch it and the equipotential and equipment bonding systems have failed.
