Scenario: Adding a standby generator to feed an existing pump house for the water wells at an industrial plant. Need to mount one service disconnect for the utility service from an existing pad mounted transformer and another service disconnect for a new genset located adjacent to the transformer pad, on the same exterior wall, as that is the only practical location for each them. Both the transformer and the genset are located outdoors. The ATS will be located inside the building.
Article 230.72(B) says the disconnects shall be located remote from each other. How is remote defined here? Would a few feet of seperation with prominent marking of each disconnect be sufficient? What about a barrier of some sort between the two? For example a cinder block stub wall or a metal partition?
Thanks, Jim
