I have a 3/4" rope for my greenlee puller that I snapped (we won't discuss how:mad: ), Does anyone know of a reliable way to splice this or do you think a new rope is in my future,

I have never snapped a pulling rope, but I have re-weaved or re-wrapped the loop on the end of a pulling rope and it never failed. Sorry I'm not sure how to explain how to do it but it can be done.
Do a search on Google under rope knots & you may find your answer.

Sounds like a lawsuit to me... Better opt for the new rope...

When I was an apprentice (30 +) years ago I was shown how to make a loop on the end of a rope for pulling wire. Braiding the wire so that it looks and is as strong as the rope itself. I wasn't listening. They also showed me many diferrent knots and back braiding the ends so they don't unravel, using only the rope. I wasn't listening. They showed me how to splice rope. I wasn't listening
My question today is, and I am listening, is how to do it?

help or link appreciated

Marc,

That would depend on the type of splice ... some splices retain over 90% of the rope strength.
Don
Okay  What splice would that be that retains 90% of the rope strength ?

Try a double fisherman's Knot. This knot might not fit into some of the smaller pipe runs but if tied correctly it will not fail. I have trusted this knot with my life many times.

I want to add In the electrical Field I have used this knot to save a pull in progress, the rope broke in a spot that was already out of the pipe, a little fishing for the end that shot back into the pipe i tied the knot it worked fine. I would recommend inspecting the knot after each pull, when knot shows signs of wear cut it out and retie.
