We had a customer using scrap wood they would reduce into .25" bits then blow them into a burner for drying and processing hay into pellets. Worked well until scrap wood became more scarce.

As far as when that wood naturally decays/degrades, wouldn't majority of the carbon end up released as CO2 by the things that end up feeding off of it anyway?

They had to be careful that it burned properly, whatever that was.
