I make my fuses run two miles everyday. It keeps the weight off so they screw in easier.
I did a project a few years ago at a high school with a switchboard that was forty years old, and nobody had ever exercised the breakers. The breakers were oriented so that they operated "up and down". I stood on th ehandle of an 800 Amp breaker and could not get it to disengage. The contacts were welded together. We found three other breakers in the same condition. The school replaced the switchboard.
