Thats fine if it is in writing. If not then they really can not inforce it.
So thing to do here is ask the inspector for the code number he thinks has been violated.
They can interpret part of the code that are unclear but I don't believe they can change the wording. There are local amendments for that purpose.just of out curiosity, I had always thought that the AHJ could bypass the code book, is that only if he puts it in writing? thanks.
