How does article 695 apply ?

Tapping ahead of a pedistal breaker is not possible.

Have many developments requiring fire sprinkler and pump systems. Need sujestions for safe instalions.

Re: Residential fire pumps

Are the residential fire pumps required by the fire dept AHJ and hence installed per 695?
You would have to have a tap ahead of the service. I was thinking a large junction box that would allow taps to be made and then run straight to the fire pump controller.

Re: Residential fire pumps

I think you need to look at a copy of NFPA 13D (Standard for theInstallation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes). I do not have a copy, but know that many of the installation requirements in 13D are not as strigient as in 13 (Standard for theInstallation of Sprinkler Systems).

Re: Residential fire pumps

NFPA 13 is correct. However, it refers you to NFPA 20 for water supplies which includes pumps.
Basically it says a pump is not always required but if one is used, there are a few differences in residential pump wiring but, it must follow NFPA 70 Article 695 for the most part.

Typically an installer of a sprinkler system must be licensed. No?
