need some help to wire a new house , they want IG in all the plasma TVs in bedrooms, I'm using all plastic boxes , can anyone tellme how exactly to wire the IG , the locations of panels are meter combo outside , bedroom's panels in garage , 2" conduit from garage to service.how do I bring the IG to the service panel? thanks a million

IG needs two seperate EGC, one for the recpt ground and one for the yoke. Typically done with conduit and a EGC. Code violation to use NM.
But there is no need for a IG in your application. Just use a dedicated circuit for each run and you will do the same as IG.
And you will see many replies that IG is a waste of time and money.
Customer would be better off with a small UPS.

Like al ready stated.

IG in a plastic box is a total misapplication. The homeowners clearly do not understand the purpose of such devices.

If it were me and they really really wanted it I would run 12-2 MC with metal boxes and use an IG recept. Then I would charge them twice the normal comercial price for pulling MC in a residential structure. If they question the cost I would explain to them well its normally used in comercial/ inductrial environments etc.... the whole nine yeards of why I used MC and a metal box as oppose to plastic and NM. I would want them to question their own motives. In the end it makes no difference to you if they want to spend their money that way. If I educated them, then I would not feel guilty making it worth my while to install.

Just as Tom said, if you home-run each plasma outlet back to the panel with NM, there will be no contact between that circuit's ground wire and any others, until you connect to the panel bus...essentially functioning the same as an IG in a business setting.

We have never used IG in our facilities and do just fine.

Is it me or is it that the people still specifying IG devices are lost in the last millennium?

Rethink that idea . 12-2 mc has only one grounding wire (green) and the shield is not a ground. Also IG are supposed to be green with yellow stripe.
As others stated since its a plastic box just run romex and put plastic cover on it.
No point in telling them its waisted money. Let them spend the extra money for dedicated circuits.

I know it is legal and it is what the customer wants and it is about the money.

BUT SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO SCREAM............OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Jim are you saying that they're required to be grn/yel or it's just good practice to do it that way?

If thhn i think required. Reason being that we can't reidentify #12 . If both are green then how do we tell them apart ? It is bit gray area if you use a red wire on 12-3 mc or romex to get the IG being its a cable.
