There is an outlet for gas hookup for a BBQ on a patio. The customer wants an receptacle for an rotisserrie, etc...do I need to be over 1 meter away? It could have a loose device plugged in, but an receptacle isn't really in the arc producing catagory? Thanks again for the answer to a silly question?

No you do not have to stay away from it, this is no different than a receptacle behind a gas range.

I think the gas code requires that sources of ignition be 3' from items that vent gas as regulators do.
