I am an instuctor in an Ieca apprenticeship school. I have about 3 different reference books on the application of service calculations, all of which are basically the same in the way they explain the service calculation except for the following: calculating the largest motor, and use of A/C as the largest motor when it wins out over the heating. Tom Henry's book on calcultions uses the A/C when it wins out over the heat. James stallcups book doesn't, but if there is a 240volt motor as the largest motor, he goes to the next largest 120volt motor to calculate neutral demand. We use Mike Holt's understanding the NEC as our main text, but there is no explanation of this topic in his book. The question I have is which is correct and if anyone can tell me what The International Code Council uses for their testing for the journeymans and masters exam. Any help would be appreciated
