We changed out a 200A service panel that was in a house basement. The basement walls were furred out at some point, and the remodelers placed a hinged access door over the electrical panel. We swapped out the panel, but now the inspector is requiring the new panel be brought flush to the (newer) wall, eliminating the need for the access hatch.
Panel location clearly violates 110.26, but full compliance would require changing the building structure. How have you all handled these situations?
