As painful as it is for me:D I have to agree with weressl on this based on the cost of complying with the request.

I think fighting this would cost more than just doing it, by cost I mean both the lost time and the future hard time it may cause.

8 THHN is not expensive and in most cases the run will be short.

....you would give in to something that is clearly stated otherwise? What if it was 100ft away on next job?

What if frogs had wings?

I would decide what to do based on all the issues at the time.

Most times we have a move in date that has to be met and waiting for an appeal is not an option.

....if it was little to no cost than go ahead and do it, but still file the complaint that you are being forced to do things that are clearly not required by code or local amendment.

In the illustration it says the grounding wire of the circuit can be used for bonding, but does that mean by using an appliance cord? I thought bonding is done with a separate external wire and shall not be dependent on a cord and plug. I think it is easier to bond hot, cold, and gas at the water heater.
