retapping transformer

Need more info. If you're rewiring a 240/480v primary from 240v to 480v, and supplying it with 480v instead of 240v, the secondary voltage should remain the same.
 
Just to be clear - if I understand what you are doing - you are not re-tapping this transformer. Like Larry says above, you are likely re-wiring the 2 primary coils (previously connected in parallel at 240 VAC) to run them in series at 480 VAC. Which should have no effect on the secondary voltage created, it will remain the same.

Taps on primary coils are typically in 2.5% steps and would not, in general, exceed 10%.

Not looking to be a jerk, just pointing out the correct description of the work.

Apologies in advance if you have a really odd transformer.
