Reverse Fed 240-480 Transformer question

The motor is dual voltage, originally I wanted to do just that and swap out the starter. The issue was going to the bigger starter, it wouldn't physically fit inside the cabinet that was supplied. The cost for a new cabinet and starter was too much for management to justify, when we already had the transformer sitting there not being used.

So... lets make a more complicated system by slapping together some scrap parts we have laying around, rather than do it right and have to buy the correct materials... Yep, that tracks with every plant manager I have encountered.

In the long run the added losses in that transformer might ultimately cost them more than they saved, but then again if it's only used once per month? Maybe not.
