I agree with most of the above.

  1. It Depends on what "comms" means.
  2. If UTP Ethernet, cable LT 100 meters should work
  3. Fiber is a better idea. If going between building, it's a VERY GOOD idea.
  4. I've used both single & multimode.
  5. Singlemode fiber costs more but may not be significantly more.
  6. The electronics has gotten cheap; fs.com has SM SFP's for the price of lunch.
  7. You may want to encase the conduits in concrete to protect them from backhoe fade.
