Usually ther spec will specifically liat a mechanical room as subject to damage or where RGS is to be used. This spec does not. Would you use RGS in exposed mechanical room after reading this?

I would RFI the person that wrote these specs. I posed this question before in this forum. What is the deciding factor, the fine line that divides physical damage from severe physical damage. EMT is listed for use where it is subjected to physical damage (358.10) but not listed for use where subjected to severe physical damage. (358.12) You would need his, or the AHJ, or both to make the determination first, what you will classify the area, and 2nd, based on the info above, can you use the EMT in areas where it's exposed to physical damage as the NEC allows.
