Forget Dewalt, I have moved to Milwaukee tools and have never looked back. Dewalt feels cheap now.

Had Bosch drills for a time, and smoked EVERY one of them we had in short order. I saw a door guy doing his thing run outside, I went out to see what was wrong and his Bosch 18v drill was in flames with smoke rolling out of it. Screw Bosch tools!

Sorry folks if this is off topic but hope it is ok here.
Well my 18 volt drill I got from the big orange store in 2003 with the lifetime warranty bit the dust, checked the receipt and the ink had faded contacted the Ridgid Company and said to check the serial number if it was made with in the last three years they would repair it but I said it was purchased 5 years ago and it had a lifetime warranty they said sorry with out the receipt tough luck!! so much for their warranty so make copies of receipts from hd they fade

If you paid with a credit card and know the date, the cc company can usually get you a copy of the receipt.

And I agree with the other posters, raise a stink with Home Depot and you'll usually get your replacement.

I think Milwaukee makes their drills a bit more durable but not with out problems. The last one I owned they had problems with the chucks wearing out. I do not like their batts. not impressed with the life span one bit. I went with dewalt because I inherited a lot of batteries which saved on the initial purchase. Now the batts. have lost their capacity and the drill is worn out. Back to square one.
