I’m doing an addition that gives the HO a new front door (actually 2 separate entrances). She wants a Ring doorbell at each new entrance.

Question- if I run 18/2 stat wire to each push button from a transformer does everything else (camera, chime, notifications) operate wirelessly to their devices?

it sounds like a higher VA xfrmr is required (30 VA?)? Would I need a transformer for each push button?

Yes, the doorbells are wireless with the transformer providing power so a WiFi connection is required. I have a ring doorbell and the WiFi is generally pretty poor if you have a metal door. I ended up moving the WiFi router close to the door on the inside to get it to work.

First, read this thread: https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/transformer-question.2553336/#post-2576843

Second, the wired power only recharges the built-in battery, so you don't need a lot of current.

Third, one standard transformer should be enough, but check with Ring for one vs two resistors.

Fourth, the lower the transformer voltage (within proper range), the lower the resistor current.

The wifi is pretty poor period! LOL! I've had to use wifi extenders even though the doorbell was less than 20' away. I have the Nest doorbell at my gate, and its a good 200' away, but I do have an outside wifi hub that is line of sight.
