On a new house using concrete wall panels with foam insulation 1/2" thick the contractor has notched the foam and run the romex in the notch. How does this complie with code if it cannot be any deeper than 1/2" behind the sheetrock. Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks PK

It doesn't, you'll need a steel plate over it. See 334.17

300.4 B E. If the cable is less than an inch and a quarter from the sheetrock you need a plate to protect it.

Tom and Scott are 100% correct. Only a steel plate will get this installation to meet code. Maybe the contractor will double(or triple) the foam thickness to allow for 1/2"or 3/4" EMT installation? This is how I typically try to address such situations.
