Fellow Electricians, is this a violation per Nec? Please state code and references . NMC stapled the edge of a 2X4. Does it need to be perfected full length or where It's secured every 4 ½ft.IMG_20210713_103220832_BURST000_COVER_TOP.jpg A few train of thoughts are welcomed. ThanksIMG_20210713_103244665.jpg

So first tell us what you think and what code section would support your thoughts

Roger

IMO the way it is stapled is just fine. The code only requires it be secured and supported.

However, it appears to have other issues.

300.4(D) Cables and Raceways Parallel to Framing Members and Furring Strips.

In both exposed and concealed locations, where a cable- or raceway-type wiring method is installed parallel to framing members, such as joists, rafters, or studs, or is installed parallel to furring strips, the cable or raceway shall be installed and supported so that the nearest outside surface of the cable or raceway is not less than 32 mm (11⁄4 in.) from the nearest edge of the framing member or furring strips where nails or screws are likely to penetrate. Where this distance cannot be maintained, the cable or raceway shall be protected from penetration by nails or screws by a steel plate, sleeve, or equivalent at least 1.6 mm (1⁄16 in.) thick.

It's a shallow pocket box..

Thanks... I read the same thing and believe the NMC should be protected the full length. I have a counter argument that say it need protection where it's secured by staples. What's your interpretation? Thanks.

BTW Steve, I see where Don had already provided the OP with the code section so you were good to go. 😉

Roger

No apologies needed Steve, it appears the
OP needed some direction. 👍

Roger
Roger it appears you shouldn't make assumptions. I have directions and I have an interpretation of what I read. I want someone else thought without offering my perspective.

apologies if vetting the op was on the table Roger

~RJ~
RJ .. I set forth a question and ask specific information to be disseminated based off my question. I wasn't on the table about anything. I was waiting for a proper answer to my question not wasted babel about nothing pertaining to the question!
