Anybody willing to venture a ballpark figure or price range?

Somewhere in the deep 5 to shallow 6 figures here in NJ.

That's a complete backpark guess.

Home runs look to be a killer here....how many sub panels?

No subpanels...the builder drops the ceiling for us in the garage for home runs. Not sure about the furnaces...I guess they fill out a manual J for heat loss and go from there...this isn't the frozen North here. Nobody could get 90 to 100k for this house here unless it was some kind of smart house with extreme wiring. That seems like a lot.

Some of those home runs will be #10 (on 15/20A CB) no?

Just curious as to how you arrive at a price for that job:
- sq. ft
- T & M
- per opening
- take-off
?

56-60k off the top of my head more if service rquires a trans s cabinet I am guessing that 2-200 a service panels are allowed as a 320 in my area I have to go with a trans s cabinet which increases the price dramatically

First I look the plans over to see any difficulties...laminated beams etc. If I've already done one like it it takes a lot of the guess work out of it. Plans are not the same as looking at the actual house and it's easy to miss things.I do a complete take off and have unit pricing for every item in the house...install recessed...install recessed in high ceiling...everything. Then I figure it up T& M to compare, which can be mostly an educated guess if you haven't seen the house built or done one like it. Usually my unit prices and my T&M estimates are very close.
Anything the owner isn't sure of is listed as TBD...dimmers, decor switches and other upgrades. Any change orders down the road I charge at higher rates than I do on the initial proposal...and there are always change orders.
I don't run #10 in lieu of #12 or #14 for voltage drop in houses except for AC circuits and sometimes ovens when I run a larger gauge than called for. Anything over #10 I run in Al. 6/3 Al to AC disconnects because I never get accurate info on what the units will actually pull and a little over kill is better than screwing up. Sometimes 4/3 to double ovens.
For the service we use 2 200 amp MB...I use Seimans...with 2 4/0Al SEC into a 320a meter base. POCO runs from street to meter and ties it in.

Ok, we know how you came up with your price, and what you wouldn't charge, soooo......?

I think you are very wrong - Potomac and Great falls area
have some very big homes and the electric bid goes into the low 6 figures , 1200 amp service .....

I bid this job at 35K. So far I have less than $6500 in wire, service, recessed housings, scaffold rental and permit. I figure another $2000 in breakers, trims, sw&pl and plates. That’s about $8500 my cost for materials, permit, etc.
I hired 2 skill force guys for 5 days….~$2000. My guys had 7.5 days @ $30.00 ea…$3600 to rough it in. So that’s $5600 in labor my cost, so far. I figure 5 days tops to finish the job…so another $2400….so that’s about $8000 in labor costs. So my hard costs will be around $16,500.
Mark up Skill Force dudes $1000.00
I figure my guys @ $85.00 an hour each….so 12.5 days would be $17,000.
I add 40% on material ,rentals, permit, etc so $8500 + 40% is ~ $12,000. That comes to about ~$30,000. At $35,000 I should be OK. Wiring for lights on stone piers about 30’ away is left at T&M in case of trouble. Dimmers and installing rope lighting above cabinets is also left @ T&M because it’s undecided at this point ( we rough-in switched recpts above cabinets). There will be other extras on this job….especially when he sells it. I will add that I’m bidding against people who will really low-ball this work just to keep their men working. With this bid I probably got this job because we have a history with the contractor and I know he got at least 1 bid under $30,000. So…let ‘er rip. Teach me something.

Did you work on the job too? The one conspicuous thing missing is your own time.

No, I didn't work on this job myself, other than to walk the house with my guys before starting it. I may work on the final, depending on how busy we are.
I did spend sometime on the cell phone ordering material deliveries and dealing with Skillforce.
