I need to find out if you can run romex in standard wiremold. I cannot find anything in the code book that tells me that I can't. Also, does it make a difference if this is done in a place of assembly? Thanks

Yes, NM cable is permitted in metal and nonmetallic surface raceways; however you must check the manufacturer's instructions for permitted number of conductors or cables and what cables and conductors are DESIGNED to be installed.

Yes, the occupancy type makes a difference. See 518.4 for detailed requirements for wiring in a place of assembly.

As bphgravity has said, you have to check with the manufacturer.

Specifically, in the case of wiremold, as of a yr and a half ago, it was only listed for individual conductors, not romex. That is what their tech support people told me. You may want to check to see if this has changed. (I hope this has changed).

There are many sizes and types of surface metal raceway. The smaller sizes would not be suitable for use with NM.

Romex without the out covering is not a listed wiring method. The wires are not labeled.
Seems like a lot of time when you could pull 12 THHN
