I must admit there is a definite practicality to spooling the wire in my hand and walking it out, I think that is how the guys who taught me did it (but I mainly app'ed in commercial), but it does not turn out to be as fun as spinning it overhead. I like to entertain the other trades with my "rodeo man" feats of spinning.

I am a pre stripper.

I put my power on the power in on the stud side for ease of make up.

I find helpful to standardize practice of putting the cable in the box over it's corresponding switch at rough.

I slide a piece of romex labeling the wiring in the box.

I put a romex tag on the wire next to the breaker also.

I put my power on the power in on the stud side for ease of make up.
I place the cable from the box to the left in on the left side, and likewise for the cable coming from the box to the right.

I do also take switch position into account, though.

Wow... It's like an entire apprenticeship in one thread!

Anybody have a brand preference for romex staplers? That is for those that use them...
