Rooftop mast for MH parking lot luminaire

I think your best bet is move the existing fixture down the wall away from the door. If you don't think that will be enough light install a second fixture on the wall on the other side of the door. Since you already bought a second fixture, I'd just exchange if for another wallpak to match the existing one if you decide you need it. Repiping a little 1/2" emt is way easier/cleaner than trying to bend a 2" rigid mast around an eave.

Larry, that may be an option. I really wanted to get some height out of it though, and I don't know if one those mounts to which Marc linked will achieve that.
Now that we see the job, I'd go with a mount like this one, from Marc's link, mounted as high as you can on the wall:

It should get you out from the wall and high enough above the gutter line and still look good. You can run LFMC down the pipe and the wall to the original box, or pipe up to a new box near the mounting bolts.

For that building, I would have gone with smaller lights and more of them.

I would have use 3 knuckle mount 26 watt compact fluorescants.

If you want to get the light up high, move it to where Mark suggested.

Larry, that may work best. I wonder, will the slipfit I have sit right in that bracket, or do I need a nipple of some sort? Incidentally, I am looking back on the original job and thinking IMC may have been a better choice than EMT, even though I used compression fittings. Since I am redoing much of it, I may change over. Thoughts?

Not a bad idea, though the owner speced the metal-halide fixtures initially. They used to have about 10 500W quartz-halogen fixtures, which burned out constantly and wasted energy. Coming from that scenario, it was a dream to them when each 400 W M/H luminaire replaced a double 500 W fixture. I wasn't willing to argue.

Won't your new piece slip right over the tube of the mount I posted?

Thanks all for the suggestions; I'm going to try going with the prefabricated mounts and re-do it IMC. I'll be sure to post some pictures once the job is completed.

lordofpi,

Here's another option. Using 'unistrut' fasten two pieces horizontally about

three feet apart to the block wall, so they are facing 90 degrees to the wall.

Use your favorite strut fittings on the block, cut the strut long enough to

clear to gutter and to accomadate your 2" IMC or GRC and use strut straps

to support the 2", cut the 2" as long as you want. Then install the parts you

already have. It's just the back of the store, as far as looks go.
