Re: rough-in on GFCI

FYI
TN State Law 0780-2-1-.04
(3) When the initial ("rough-in") inspection is conducted:
b) all joints shall be made: and......

Re: rough-in on GFCI

I have a rider attached to my inspection clause that will make the inspection process go better for all involved. First, I need 2 kit-kat bars slightly melted, a bottle of water chilled to 32?, a small towel to wipe the sweat from my brow, 2 helpers with fans to follow me around and keep me cool, an assistant to write down all the violations I find in royal blue ink on my custom made violation cards, and a third helper with tools to open all enclosures I wish to view. :p

Re: rough-in on GFCI

After reading the posts I asked myself the same thing Larry asked, why the single receptacle protection on a 4 receptacle circuit. To truly get a correct answer it might help to know where these receptacles are located.
As far as an inspector requiring that the line side of a gfci are marked in a manner that suits him is ridiculous. We had a huge problem with stucco crews cramming exterior receptacles full of mud and as jim said some areas this is one that does not get a meter until after a final inspection. so we started to leave 2 ft leads sticking out the block wall, tagged grounds not made up.Valid reason yes.
But this twisting thing sounds as silly as I have ever heard.Does he also go around checking for bad joints made up ?He shouldn`t care on a rouch in whats marked as line /load he should be more worried about protection, bundling, box fill, wires to close to an access all the things he can`t see after drywall.
Maybe he has a part of the body that is so retentive this is a laxative for him :D .What`s next single hot leads and grounds for any box 2 gang and up :p

Re: rough-in on GFCI

The use of single gfci recepts often makes since. We would not like having to go to the down stairs bath to reset the gfci in the 2nd floor master bath.

Re: rough-in on GFCI

Bryan, LOL. :D

Augie, good to mention, it never occurred to me that an AHJ could have an amendment to that effect. Thanks for sharing that.
