Rude Inspector (Needs Reported?)

Curious where you're at in PA? I could use a generator man from time to time. The manufacturers are holding onto the software and passwords so tight now, you can't do squat.

I don't want to jack my own thread but real quick-
I'm in between Reading and Harrisburg. If you guys ever need genset related info, I'd more than glad to help. I'm Kohler, Generac, Detroit Diesel/MTU, and ASCO certified with all software and factory support. I have a strong knowledge of Cat's and Onan/Cummins....unfortunately I'm not factory cert'd in them...but I deal with them on a daily basis. Pretty much anything 20kW to 2MW I can help.

As for my inspection - I get re-inspected tomorrow so we shall see.

Passed...
With compliments from this inspector....No problems at all. Now explain that...NOTHING changed, except the inspector.

It happens, but sometimes with another inspector it goes the other way too.

I've written correction notices when I've been on jobs and you get the "so and so already signed that off" "Well, so and so's not here, I am." Also gone on jobs looked at the correction notice and thought "wonder what he was looking at.":D

My point kind of is, everyone else thought that the first inspector didn't know what he was talking about, let's hope it's not the other way around.

P.S. Sounds like you've done enough of these to know what you're doing and my comments are in no way a reflection on you or your quality of work.

good, glad to hear it. By your previous posts it didn't appear that you were in violation of the code anyway. I'm curious, How did you get a different inspector? Did you hire another agency or did they send out a different inspector by coincidence?

Cool. I historically use Winter for Kohler. That's not you, is it?

Most inspectors will give a code reference....I could not imagine failing someone unless i told them why by giving them the code reference.

As for being Rude....many might interpret it that way in some inspectors situation or just maybe they hear it RUDE when they fail. Quite possibly if he passed it would not have been interpreted as being rude......

Well said Paul.

No to worry, I like criticism of my work...it only makes me better at it...and I found it to be an excellent learning tool.

No...Close though, We're right up the highway a bit - Penn Power Systems

Let me first say hello to everyone. I work in standby and prime power generation so my NEC code knowledge is below average, but I know enough to NOT to be dangerous.
Recently I purchased a 1950's home and of course #1 thing was to upgrade the existing 60A to a 200A service. I also added a 45Kw standby generator.
Upon inspection by an independent inspector (PA stinks!), he told me I have "Neutral Issues" I need to square away. He wouldn't tell me any more. So I consulted my NEC book and I can not for the life of me figure out where I screwed up. Here's what I got:
200A service from Meter base to a 200A disconnect where the Neutral and Ground are bonded (Ground comes from the rod beside the foundation), Then on to a 260A automatic transfer switch (4 pole neutral switching contactor), Then to my 200A panel for the home (which is neutral isolated). What kind of "Neutral Issue" do I have? I can't for the life of me figure out what the heck he meant.
The generator is NOT neutral isolated because the ATS switches the neutral from the main disconnect....This is the only "Grey Area" I can figure on..

Why did you use a 4 pole?
