Has anyone ever ran wire in the void between the inside of the brick wall and the ox board? Ive never done it however when I was a cub my journeyman did it on the the front of a garage where it was solid wood. Something got be thinking about it today.

Do you sleeve it at all? I ask because I have a concrete wall with brick on the outside with an outlet. It would be alot easier to run in the void vs runninr pipe on the inside and drilling the foundation wall...Much easier....All I would have to do it find a way to support the wire to the concrete..

You wouldn't and couldn't support it if you run it in the void. It's like fishing in walls, you don't have to support the wire when it's fished.

From a code enforcement and established building nomenclature it is called "Brick Veneer". The gap is normally approximately 1" but some of the mortar may stick out and make it hard to fish wire.

Remember also, that water can and does get behind the brick. That is why tarpaper/house wrap is udes as a secondary defense to water penetration.

You can run wire in the brick and block voids all you want. As long as the wire isn't mortared in it's code compliant.

Im not talking about fishing it in...I want to run it before the "facade", "veneer", or whatever you want to call it goes up
I think UF is adequate, as long as it's not imbedded.
