As mentioned...use very slow speed on drill and hit with oil!

And if you use oil, use real cutting oil, lube oil is not the same thing. Found some interesting info at http://www.northamerican-steel.com/pdf/38-40.pdf, too.

Anyplace that sells strut should be able to get fiberglass strut.
