S/O in flex

Can you use S/O cable and install it inside metel flex above ceiling to a j-box or do I need to make a splice in a j-box and change to mc cable?

There is mention of flexible cords in raceways found in 440.14.

Does this apply?

It can't be above the ceiling. And it can't be in a sleeve ablve the ceiling.
