I HAVE A SAFETY SWITCH THAT IS RATED FOR A CLASS 1 DIV-2 AREA. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS ALSO GOOD FOR A CLASS 2 DIV-2 AREA??.

Not necessarily. And probably not if it isn't already marked for Class II.
 
This is something of an overstatement - but it should be marked "Dustight." See Section 502.6(B)
 
CAN'T FIND 502.6(B)
THIS IS AN ENCLOSED MAGNETIC SWITCH. SEE SECTION 502.150(B)1 AND 502.150(A)(2).EXCEPTION WITH THIS SWITCH BEING LOW VOLTAGE AND HAVING A SEALED HOUSING IT LOOKS LIKE I CAN USE A "GENERAL PURPOSE DEVICE".:confused:
 
I can understand why you didn't find 502.6(B) - it doesn't exist. Sorry. I should have referenced 502.115(B).

Is your application Signaling, Alarm, Remote-Control, and Communications Systems; and Meters, Instruments, and Relays? You may want to reread the exception.
