Situation:
  1. Pool pump filter shed
  2. Salt water system
  3. existing challenger remote 100A load center has expected rust and corrosion.
  4. They are a faith based charity I decided to support by doing this pro bono except for material.
My thoughts:
I think if someone maintained it annually by inspecting and treating the connection points and addressing any surface corrosion it could last forever. But i am pessimistic about that. Oh wait, that could be one of my pro bono contributions, ah ha!

We could replace it and put in a Hoffman enclosure as one idea or get a stainless steel load center, but found out at Graybar I would have to go to a panel board. Maybe there is a used stainless steel panel around I could find.

Any ideas?

3R panels last longer than you think. As long as the bus and grounding areas are intact I wouldn't rush into changing anything until you see obvious problems. Then, I would just replace it with another 3R. You probably could buy two of those for the cost of a Hoffman box.
