Heck, the NEC won't even let you screw in a new Edison based fuse if the old fuse was too big for the connected wire.

That's why I use pennies instead. Their ampacity is stamped right on to them.

only the old all copper ones... the zinc ones you have to use noalox on,
and that gets the fire marshals fingers dirty when he comes out to do
the investigation.....

I prefer to live in homes with 100% K&T wiring with an A base meter service complete with frankenstein switches. Ahhh the good ole days.
