SCADA: Supervisory Control And Data Aquisition

Generally used to remotely monitor and control substation equipment such as breakers, switches, and sectionallizers. Usually works on fiber-optic systems tied to Remote Terminal Units (RTU's) at each substation and at the control point (dispatcher).

PLC: Programmable Logic Controller

Programmable controller generally used to control motors and other systems requiring complex logic to start and stop motors, etc. on certain input configurations.

DCS: No Idea. :D

Hope that helps.

Distributed Control System.
A distributed control system integrates the PLCs and process controllers of a process line into a coordinated, interactive system.
It enables you to manage the process as a complete system, with control over the interrelationship of the various subsystems.
A DCS lets you see the ?big picture? and improve the overall efficiency and quality
of your plant.
I forgot whose web site I copied that from. ;)
