I am currently commissioning a project in Juarez Mexico, and noticed that the PVC conduit on the project is schedule 30. The contractor involved stated that is is going to use this conduit for concrete encased medium voltage ductbank only. However, I have not found and schedule 40 PVC on site, and I am thinking that they will probably use this conduit for low voltage ductbank that will not concrete encased. Is schedule 30 conduit listed and labeled for electrical use? It appears that it would be a crushing hazard if not concrete encased.

The project in question must be done in accordance with current NEC code...

Then you've answered your own question. If the conduit isn't listed for use in the NEC (the standard that you're following) then you can't use it.

tcoog,Check the conduit for its stamp. It should have a listing as DB (direct buried) or EB (encased buried).I think cantex or carlon makes a schedule 35 and i know they make a thinner schedule 20, both in EB and DB.
