Schedule 40 PVC in Class I Div 2 Location

We are wiring some motors and level sensors in a vault that is rated Class I Div 2 and the engineer lists using Schedule 40 PVC for conduit in the vault. I don't see Schedule 40 PVC listed as an acceptable wiring method for Class I Div 2.

Am I missing something?

Without knowing more details, I can only say it is not an acceptable general wiring method in Division 2. See [2005/2008] 501.10(B)(1)

I would also be curious about the basis of a Division 2 classification in the vault in the first place.

im pretty sure schedual 40 pvc is not rated for explosionproof. if wetness is an issue can you use pvc coated rigid?
