Science/Chemistry lab design

I am renovating a high school Science/Chemistry lab in IL and noticed that there are pull stations and exit signs in the existing classrooms.
Is pull staion required in a Science/Chemistry lab in Illinois?
Which code should I look up?
Any help will be appreciated.

I imagine that since you live in Chicago, you will have a local fire alarm/life safety code. Contact your local authorities, as there is no set answer when it comes to fire alarm codes nationally.
