Osha has questioned use of breakers screwed in on position. We told them they have an internal tripping mechanism. I need thecode and # asap. jim

Well Jim your question is less than clear.

The NEC allows and in some cases requires breaker lock on devices.

Breakers are required to be of a trip free design meaning a lock on device will not prohibit the breaker from tripping.

240.80 Method of Operation.
Circuit breakers shall be trip free and capable of being closed and opened by manual operation. Their normal method of operation by other than manual means, such as electrical or pneumatic, shall be permitted if means for manual operation are also provided.

However, if the breaker in question is also being used as an equipment disconnecting means in my opinion that makes the answer a bit more complicated.

I'm curious as to why OSHA wouldn't know that locked on breaker are designed to trip.
