I have a house that the HO wants a stand by generator. The main service has distribution, 4 wire single phase feeder runs from the main about 65' to a transfer switch, transfer switch feeds 12-24 distribution panel. The neutral is not switched. My question is since the generator,ATS,and distribution panel are 65' from the main is it required to switch the neutral at the ATS because the bonding jumper in the generator creates a parallel path back to the main on the ground. Or does the bond jumper get removed at the generator, so the only tie between ground and grounded conductors is at the main ? This is a generac unit that doesn't switch the neutral.

I believe most of the small Generacs come from the factory with a "Floating" neutral anyway.

This is a 17KW gen, and it has a ground wire in the pre-wired whip that connects to the gen. so I am thinking it is bonded in the unit.
