Always thought that copper NM cable even at 60 rating had a higher ampacity then same size SE Aluminum cable

Aluminum is simply a dirty word to some.

Copper is more profit to some and they won't give owner much choice - except let someone else install aluminum I guess.

if they want more profit charge them the same for aluminum as for copper. most people will not care. they just want a price.
