I have a project that required two large jbs with multiple conduits entering on the hazardous area side, nipple through the wall to a non hazardous area jb. I have all conduits sealed entering hazardous area jb, do I need to seal between the two? The two jbs the client is requesting to be back to back. Class 1 zone 2.

I haven't worked under the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) since the late '90s. That said, a boundary seal would be necessary under the NEC whether Division or Zone classified. Under CEC Zone rules at the time of my familiarity, sealing would depend on the wiring method, but common conduits would require a boundary seal.

Currently, in your particular case, under NEC rules, a conduit boundary seal would not be required to be explosionproof unless the junction box were also required to be explosionproof. I don't know the current CEC rules.
