I'm running conduit from a fuel dispenser to the inside of the c- store. i have a seal inside the dispenser before the conduit goes below grade and a seal inside the building after the conduit emerges from grade. Section 514.8 states that a conduit passing under a class1 div1/2 area must be sealed within 10ft of emergence from grade. Does this mean the conduit must have a seal above and below grade within 10 ft of emergence? If this is the case, then I would have to install another seal at my junction from IMC to PVC, which is over 2ft below grade. That just doesn't seem possible. I hope I am misunderstanding this code and that my installation is correct. Can anyone share there understanding of this code?
