(quick scenario) Type 3R pull box installed outdoors/wet location , RMC terminates in the top with a sealing lock ring on one side and a standard locknut on the other.

?-In a general wet location (not 4X ect.) is this permitted by the NEC.

My answer to this would be yes, due to info gathered from the NEC and the Whitebook.

The reason why I ask this is that my gut says to use a threaded connection(myers hub, boss, ect.) on the top of an enclosure in a wet location with RMC. But then again I feel ok with raintight emt fittings.......

Thanks

I use the hub on top. The sealed lock nuts if I am useing the sides, the top of the side.

I would agree with that installation practice ,but am still not sure if what I described is a violation or not.

Also, if it is large plant, check their specification standards.

Myers on top, sealing lock ring on the sides, lock nuts on the bottom.

May depend on what part of the country your in too.

I'm saying a myers hub with the little "O" ring that qualifies for a weatherproof installation. 110.3(B)

"When oil patching" Class 1 Div2 where 4x boxes are allowed Alyeska Pipeline Service Company has the "400 manual". Recommends NO top entry. If you must enter the top, Myers with appropriate ring. Myers on the sides too. Recommend coming in the bottom.

C1D1 areas, all boxes have threaded bosses to use. Caveat! You are required to have a UNY going into the box, lest you ever have to consider changing boxes(per 400)!

Edit to add - I assumed IMC or GRC. Didn't even think about EMT.
