I am working on a large industrial job site that will manufacture ethanol. This auestion has come up several times. Is non-UL listed seal-tite legal to use in a class 2 div 2 location?:-?

No - but it has nothing to do with Hazardous Locations. See Sections 350.6 and 356.6.

Note: Sealtite is a trade name. It is often used synonymously with various forms of liquidtight flexible conduits.

I beleive that the "sealtite" is required to be UL labeled for the application. Don't forget about the fittings, they should also be ULed.

Check the specification sheet or fitting packaging, it say Suitable for use in a Class Division area.

Pay attention to where you place sealoff fittings, as sealtite can't be used between the sealoff and the xp enclosure.

Various forms of liquidtight conduit (metal and nonmetallic) are required to be listed by their respective Articles. (350 and 356) There are no special marking requirements for Classified location applications if they are otherwise installed per Arts 500-516. See 500.10(B)(2)(3) for example.

The fittings must be listed as indicated in the example; however, no special marking is required.

The manufacturer may indicate that the material is acceptable in Classified locations, but it is not a requirement.
