SEC Cable

There is armored service cable. I run into it in old installations from time to time. It's a real treat. Looks like SEU. The armor is a spiral tape, under the jacket, but the spirals are not interlocked like MC cable. You just skin the jacket, unwind the tape back, and nip it off. If I recall rightly, then there's a paper layer under the armor before the conductor insulation.

Ok, I never did this but my mouth got me in trouble. I told a customer you were not allowed to put SER in pipe except for physical protection. He wanted it all covered. Well I didn't get the job and then I got a call from a lawyer saying that I was trying to sell him a service he did not need. Short version called wire manufactor and they told me I was right, not design to be used in conduit only for physical protection. Forward letter to township DCA and customer. Contractor had to redo job and I am still the bad guy. Oh and the sider J channeled the service pipe and caulk the life out of it. What do you think it looks like now
